HACKNEY CARERS CARD

The Hackney Carers Card is a free card for unpaid carers who live in, or care for someone living in the London Borough of Hackney. The card recognises your invaluable contributions in as a carer and gives you access to local discounts and offers.

WHO CAN APPLY?

You must:

•Be aged 16 or over

•Be a registered carer with City & Hackney Carers Centre

HOW TO APPLY?

How to apply Applications are accepted online only.

Step 1 – Apply online

Complete the application form here:

Step 2 – Upload a passport-style photo

You will be asked to upload a clear head-and-shoulders photo of yourself.
 

  • You can take this yourself at home on your phone —no need for professional photos.
     

  • This photo will appear on your Carers Card.

Step 3 – Need help?

If you need support completing your online application or uploading your photo, we can help. Contact us on:
 

Step 4 – Receive your card
 

When completing your application form, you will be asked to choose how you would like to receive your Carers Card:
 

  • Collect it in person from City & Hackney Carers Centre, or
     

  • Have it posted to your home address
     

Our preferred option is for carers to pick up their carers card so as to avoid the card getting lost in the post.
 

Once your application has been processed, your card will be prepared according to your chosen option.

Better Gym Discount

  1. Offer details – Ability to purchase a £1.70 Carers membership which gives the user free swimming at Britannia, Clissold, King's Hall & London Fields Lido in any of the following sessions: Swim for Fitness, Swim for All, Sensory Swim, Swim for Women, Swim for Men and Inclusive Swim.
     

  2. Eligibility & verification – Hackney Carers Card or any other type of proof of being a carer such as receipt of carers allowance.
     

  3. Redemption process – This membership is only able to be purchased at front of house and a member of staff will need to see proof of carer status.
     

  4. Duration & review – 12 months - the £1.70 membership is an annual cost. Proof will be needed every time the membership is renewed

Rio Cinema Discount

  1. Offer details: £2.50 ticket for any screening (*excluding some of our premium-priced third party special events).
     

  2. Eligibility & verification: Please show a valid Hackney Carers Card to our Front-of-House staff in-person when purchasing a ticket.
     

  3. Redemption process: In person redemption only. Tickets can be redeemed for same day or future screenings. (We are unable to offer this redemption online currently). 
     

  4. Duration & review: 12 months

Replacements

If your Hackney Carers Card is lost, stolen, or damaged, you can request a replacement.
 

  • A fee of £5 will be applicable to cover basic costs
     

  • You will need to complete the Replacement Application Form online.
     

  • Payment must be made online at the time of completing the form before your new card can be issued.
