Important Update for Carers
Important Update for Carers – Service Transfer from Carers First to City & Hackney Carers Centre
Following a recent tender process, as of 01 April 2025, City & Hackney Carers Centre (CHCC) will be commissioned by the London Borough of Hackney to deliver the Carers Support Service for Unpaid Adult Carers.
CHCC will be taking over delivery of the service from Carers First who will continue to provide you with support until 31 March 2025.
Although the service provider is changing, your Carer Support Adviser may remain the same, ensuring continuity of support for you.
CHCC is currently working with Carers First and the London Borough of Hackney in order to facilitate a smooth transition of the service, and we want to reassure all carers that every effort will be made to make sure you see as little change as possible to the support you receive.
What does this mean for you? If you are currently receiving support from Carers First, your details will not be automatically transferred to CHCC. Carers First will write to you, asking if you would like your details to be passed on to CHCC, and you will need to give your consent.
If you are already registered with City & Hackney Carers Centre you will remain registered.
Will services change?
We want to reassure all carers that we will continue to offer the services you have valued from Carers First plus the services CHCC already offers. Any changes to service delivery will be in line with what carers have told the London Borough of Hackney commissioners they want and need.
City & Hackney Carers Centre has been supporting carers with a range of valued services for nearly 30 years and we are excited to continue doing so as we start this new chapter in our vibrant story. We hope you’ll come and be part of it with us!
